10:00 AM – 12:00 PM CST

Traffic volumes are essential for effective Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) as well as for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). However, sensors used to collect traffic volumes, such as loop detectors, are not available on all roadway segments due to installation and maintenance costs. Furthermore, traffic sensors can fail, resulting in missing data. This webinar will detail three methods to address these issues. First, a machine learning agent network method to provide traffic volume estimates for failed traffic sensors will be discussed. The second topic will be on how to estimate traffic volumes for locations without sensors using machine learning and crowdsourced data. The final topic will show how to use machine learning techniques to estimate Passenger Car Equivalent (PCE) factors for freeway locations without sensors.

This course is applicable to state and county transportation engineers.

The cost of the webinar is $50.00. Please register at www.eng.auburn.edu/atap. Participants completing
this webinar will receive 0.20 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), 2.0 Professional Development Hours
(PDHs). Certificates of participation will be emailed after the webinar. Thank you for your continued
support of the Alabama Transportation Assistance Program.
